Relax and Refresh

As some of you know, at the end of October I had the pleasure of taking an extended weekend away with my husband to Chicago.  It has been a long time coming!  ha, ha!

The main reason for the trip was to attend a photography workshop given by Audrey Woulard.  You can view her beautiful work at  She is a natural light children’s photographer whose work has inspired me for years.  I had fun meeting her and all of the other photographers who attended.  And of course… what fun would a post be without photographs to share?

Here is Audrey herself, teaching us as she photographs one of the models.

We also had some time to photograph some of the models that Audrey brought in.  There were about 45-50 photographers that wanted to get a shot, so not my ideal way of working – but it was fun to play around and photograph these girls.

This little girl was beyond sweet and I just adored her clothing.  The color was so fresh and fun – just perfect.  So, all of my clients that have little girls… take note on how great color and layers work in creating a beautiful, contemporary portrait! :)

And one of the boots – for kicks.

This young lady was so patient and tolerant of so many photographers.  She must have gotten a feel for what being stalked by the paparazzi feels like.

So, one of the photographers let her turn the camera on all of us – which she had a little too much fun doing I think. :)  Sweet revenge.

This little one was affectionately called “spitfire” by Audrey.  And here she is showing that personality while Audrey was working with her.  Too funny!

Well, before and after the workshop, my husband and I had the pleasure of taking some time to relax in the VERY windy city.  We walked the mile, shopped a little and took advantage of some of Chicago’s fabulous restaurants.  If you are ever in Chicago – you must stop in for dinner at Osteria via Stato (I hope I spelled that correctly).  It is an amazing Italian restaurant on State Street – yummy food, great wine and perfect service. :)  Here are a few photos of the city at night…

Well, these last couple of months have been the busiest ever – by far.  Thank you so very much to all my wonderful clients for choosing me to photograph special times in their lives.  However, I am a bit buried right now – so back to work! :)
