“How do I schedule a session?”

“How far in advance should I schedule our session?”
Sessions are generally booked 4-6 weeks out June through October and 2-3 weeks out November through May. Scheduling your session early will ensure a reserved time that works best for you.
Newborn Sessions ~ I joke with some moms-to-be that it is a good idea to schedule a newborn session after they see the positive sign appear on the pregnancy test! All joking aside, calling early in your third trimester to commission a session is highly recommended. When you commission a session, I will note your due date on my calendar. Since babies don’t always agree with doctors regarding when they will arrive, I recommend that you put me on your “call first” list upon arriving home from the hospital to ensure a session date during that short newborn period. Ideally, a newborn is photographed during the first ten days of life and I want to be able to capture that amazing, sweet newness for you!
Maternity Session ~ Please contact me in your second trimester so we can schedule your maternity session for when you are between 32 and 36 weeks. That way, you can be assured of a session time that works well for you and the possibility of not being able to capture this precious time, due to an early arrival, is less.
“How long will my session last?”
Regular sessions are relaxed and generally last between one and two hours. (Newborn sessions may last a little longer.) Mini ‘Simplicity’ sessions are approximately 15-30 minutes long.
“Do you have a studio”
While I adore the work of some very talented studio photographers that I know, I’ve found that a studio isn’t for me. I love creating photographs that are unique and special for each of my clients. Having sessions at a location that reflects their style or that holds special meaning for them allows me to be creative and tailor the session for just them.
“What locations do you recommend?”
The “best” location is often determined by who will be photographed during the session as well as your personal tastes. Popular locations are urban downtown areas, parks, beaches and in and around your own home. I would be happy to discuss location options with you.
“What kind of lighting do you prefer?”
Beautiful lighting helps create incredible portraits, and I’m a lover of natural light. In my opinion, no studio light can quite match it. However, not all natural light is good for photographs. Seeking quality light is very important and it is a priority when deciding on the best time and location for your session.
“What kind of clothing should we wear?”
A stunning image is often helped by clothing that photographs well. I am happy to discuss clothing with each individual client and help with wardrobe choices. Clothing sets the mood of a photograph, making it feel classic or trendy. We can work together to coordinate clothing to reflect the style you love.
“Do you offer digital files?”
Yes, the images from your session may be purchased as digital files with a print-reproduction release. They are available as a collection from a regular session or are included with our simplicity sessions.
I understand that in this digital age, my clients enjoy and share images in many new ways - I do as well! However, I cannot stress enough how strongly I believe in printing photographs. A professional print is made to last for generations, but a digital file can easily become corrupted, or lost forever with an all-to-frequent hard drive failure. If you purchase digital files from your session, I will also upload them to a professional lab for you and give you access to your online album so that you can easily order prints yourself at lab pricing. Not only do I know that you will have quality professional prints to enjoy for many years to come, but I won’t have to have nightmares of someone printing beautiful, professional photographs at X-mart or of a lonely dvd abandoned in a drawer.
“Do you offer framing?”
Absolutely. Many of my clients lead very busy lives and prefer that the photographs they order not require additional work or time on their part. If this sounds like you – albums, canvases and framed photographs are the perfect way for you to enjoy your images. You can leave all of that extra time and work to me! Your custom-framed photographs and canvases are delivered to you with a protective backing and hanging wire already installed – all you need is the nail or screw in the wall.
