Spring in Michigan is not just a beautiful time of year, it is an EVENT. I think it is God’s way of giving us a present for surviving a winter that seemed like the longest winter ever. Plus, spring means that my camera and I get to play outside together on a regular basis. Things also go from normal busy around here to insanely busy… oh, in a matter of about a week.
One fun thing about moving into a new (old) house in the fall – is that spring is a bit like Christmas… you get to see what pops out, grows and blooms. So, I thought I’d share a few of my little spring “presents” with you.
There is this ancient cherry tree at the southeast corner of our backyard… love the masses of white blooms and the way the late afternoon sun was filtering through them.
…from a beautiful little bush… look at that detail in the center – gorgeous.
and finally, no blooms needed – love the lines and the architectual feel
Since I’ve been MIA from this blog for a while, I guess I should explain what I’ve been up to lately. This winter has been a bit different than ones in the past and I haven’t had the chance to photograph as many client sessions as I would like. I’m sure it has something to do with the mountains and mountains of endless snow and then, well… the big, bad “E” word. This has been a tough time for many people, I do understand that as we have definitely felt it as well… but I often wonder if many of today’s kids will look back and wonder why there are no photographs from late 2008 / early 2009.
Well, the little lull in sessions during those frigid months turned out to be a blessing in disguise. A good friend of mine, who also happens to be a very talented professional photographer, and I have talked about starting a business together for quite some time. We wanted to provide a place of inspiration for other photographers and offer products that would help them save time and gain more balance in their lives. While I have custom designed things for my business and for my clients for years, I soon learned that it was a very different ball game to create things for other photographers. Getting everything off the ground took months of work and many, many pots of coffee were consumed. I really should think about buying Starbucks Morning Blend in bulk! Can you get that in 50lb. bags? We are thankful and humbled that it has gotten such a great response and is off to such a good start. So… that’s the 411!
I’m looking forward to a fun and busy spring with my clients… and finding time to blog as often as possible. The website and this blog are currently undergoing a re-design and update… that should be coming soon. I think I’d get fined by the Photography Website Police if they found out how long it has been since I’ve updated my galleries!
Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend! ~ Mary Beth
